Justine Bateman makes 3 great points here:

    1.  She doesn’t buy into superficial consumerist notions about looking a certain way (e.g, Heidi Montag).  I don’t think she’s alone; I think authentic beauty will continue to grow as a trend (e.g., the Dove “Real Beauty” campaign).

    2.  There is a subtext here that forms her second point:  Not being worried about what others think about you.  She doesn’t really care about what others think about her looks or even about the rest of her besides her looks.  That’s a skill that I wish I had learned back in high school, college, graduate school, even now.  It’s learning to be your own person; in other words, growing up.  Why is that so hard to do?  I understand the need to “fit it” but there is also a need to be authentic to oneself.

    3.  If somebody got nothing better to do that hate on someone’s looks, etc., he/she should hire a psychologist to explore this superficial and judgmental attitude.  Perhaps these folks have a hidden need to insult others b/c it keeps them from examining their own lives.

Why the name?

"unquieted" = unsettled = a life in transition.

I'm starting over. I was always creative, but also had strong analytical skills, and was never afraid of technology. At a time when many of my law school classmates are making partner or running for governor, I am going back to my creative roots. Specifically, web design & digital art.

"unquieted" = a play on words.

I can be unquiet, i.e., noisy. I play drums, bass, guitar and once in a while I even try to sing. (But I'm an amateur these days... my creative outlets are visual.) And this blog is about not being quiet. The "ed" part is my name.
